Welcome - Croeso

*The Covid - 19 pandemic has meant that our original project was modified to allow for the new health and safety guidelines and restrictions put in place. As a result, completion of the project was Christmas 2020. Fire sculpture displays designed by the children will go ahead when restrictions lift in Spring 2021.

We are St Joseph's Cathedral Primary School and Pontarddulais Primary School in Wales.

We were on a creative journey to explore the amazing heritage of the coal and copper industries here in South Wales. To do this we were being funded by the Arts Council of Wales to work with five creative practitioners to investigate our industrial past using:

Print Making - Sculpture - Willow Weaving -  Dance - Film - Music - Creative Writing

Our project ran in school from September 2019 - April 2020, please join us as we discovered how Wales became the number one copper exporter in the world.

We used all the creative disciplines to experience how the lives of the  local communities and migrant workers were changed forever through the copper foundries and coal mines.

This project will culminate in a celebration event with both schools, parents and artists leaving behind a legacy of creative exploration into this world changing era of industrial heritage.
